Not well. Handwriting, decorative lettering and curved text are hard to rebuild faithfully; for those, erase them and rewrite in a font you like.

There are two ways to change the words on an image. With the AI: it rebuilds each line of text as an editable text layer, fills the background where the old text was, and keeps a hidden backup of the original — you just double-click to edit. By hand: erase the old text with Content-Aware Fill and retype it with the Type tool — that step runs in your browser, unlimited.

A few things up front: the AI tries to match the original lettering with an available font, and when it can’t identify it, swaps in a similar one — no guarantee of an exact match; handwriting, decorative lettering and curved text don’t turn out well; and the AI route sends the image to the cloud. Please don’t use it on documents that must not be altered, such as IDs, receipts or contracts.
