Photoshop's AI isn't one feature but a set: Select Subject, Content-Aware Fill, Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Neural Filters, Super Resolution. All of them need a Creative Cloud subscription, and several also send your image to Adobe's servers.

This page walks through what each of Photoshop's AI features corresponds to in TutuEdit, what it costs, and where your image goes. The local tier — AI cutout, smart upscaling, content-aware fill, content-aware scale, sky replacement, AI expand — is completely free, unlimited, and never sends your image anywhere, and every line of it can be verified on the page itself.

Key features

Select Subject → AI cutout, entirely local

Photoshop's Select Subject maps to our one-click AI cutout, an in-browser WASM model. Free, unlimited, image never uploaded. Afterwards the magic wand adds or subtracts, and clicking the result pane removes a part you don't want.

Content-Aware Fill / Expand → yes, and free

Removing clutter and extending the canvas don't need a large model, so we do them locally. Note the distinction: Photoshop's *Generative* Fill is a different thing — it invents new content, and that we don't have.

Super Resolution → smart upscale, runs locally

Enlarge a small image without it going mushy, computed in the browser. No subscription, no daily cap.

PSD still opens, layers and all

Drag in a .psd someone sent you: layers, groups, masks and text survive, and you can save back to PSD. Nobody on your side needs Photoshop installed.

How to use

  1. 1
Drop in an image or PSD
No sign-up, nothing to install. The file opens in your browser and never touches a server.
  2. 2
    Pick an AI feature
Cutout, expand, content-aware fill, smart upscale — these run locally, so just open and go.
  3. 3
    Check before and after
Every tool shows original vs result; adjust and undo freely, or switch to a different tool.
  4. 4
Export, or keep working in layers
Save as PNG / JPG / WebP / PSD, or jump into the pro editor for mask and curve work.

FAQ

Does TutuEdit have Photoshop's Generative Fill?
What you get here is Content-Aware Fill and AI Expand: they patch a gap using pixels already in the picture, which covers "remove the bystander" and "give me a bit more canvas" in one step — and all of it runs inside your own browser, free, unlimited, with nothing uploaded. Photoshop's Generative Fill takes the other route, through Adobe's cloud models on a Creative Cloud subscription.
Can I use the AI without a Creative Cloud subscription?
Yes. AI cutout, smart upscale, content-aware fill, content-aware scale, sky replacement and AI expand run in your browser: free, unlimited, no account. Only AI photo restoration, colorization and scene editing need sign-in and send the image to the cloud, and all three are labelled on the page.
Is the quality comparable to Photoshop?
For cutout, upscaling and content-aware fill, the local models give a directly usable result on most everyday photos; hair, semi-transparency and busy textures are the edge cases worth a second pass. The value of this tier sits at the other end: no subscription, no sign-in, the image never leaves your browser, and no usage cap.
Can it open a PSD saved by Photoshop?
Yes. Drag it in — layers, groups, masks, text layers and blend modes are preserved, and you can save back to .psd to send to someone using Photoshop. No conversion, and nothing required on their end.
